Booking an Appointment
We operate an On the Day service for appointments. These appointments are released each day at 08:30.
Booking an appointment between 08:30 – 10:00 can only be done by phone. This is to avoid the long queues at the front desk in the morning which caused distress to many patients.
You can request an appointment online using our online request form – This is for non urgent requests only.
Calling through first thing – on the day appointments only
Lines can be very busy. We only deal with General Enquiries from 10am onwards to ensure that those who are calling for an appointment are the priority.
Signposting
We signpost. Many previous appointments with the GP, could have been with another healthcare professional such as a Pharmacist for example. This has an effect on others requiring access to a GP. Our staff are trained to ask for symptoms and signpost the right healthcare provider. Training was provided by NHS Lothian and by the GPs.
Pre Bookable Appointments
We do have a limited Pre Bookable appointments – i.e. appointments that can be booked in advance which are released on a daily basis.
Extended Hours
We provide an early morning service available on Tuesdays and Fridays. These appointments are booked in advance. We provide a minimum of 4 hours of appointments available to patients each week. We review the number of the extended hours appointments on a 8 week cycle.
Extended Hours appointments are available from 07:30am and are telephone appointment only.
Non-urgent advice: Notice
Please note: Patients will be unable to gain access to the Health Centreuntil 8.00 am, even on the days we offer pre booked extended hours appointments. Our appointment line for appointments opens at 8.30 am.
Emergency Telephone Line
If you have a life threatening emergency or require a house call, the telephone line opens at 8.00 am. Always make sure that you book in at reception in plenty of time for your appointment.
Please cancel any appointment that is no longer needed as far in advance as possible.
