BLOOD BORNE VIRUSES

Please see below for information on blood borne viruses.

Spread through injecting or snorting drugs and sharing ANY works. HIV and hepatitis B are easily sexually transmitted as well.  ASK TO BE TESTED – good treatments are available for all three of these viruses and are best given early.

PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY:
Not sharing ANY works for injecting or snorting
(needles, barrels, filters, straws, pipes, spoons, citric or water)
• Use NEW clean works – get as much as you need from a needle exchange
• Don’t share toothbrushes, razors, piercing or tattoo equipment
• Use a condom when you have sex
• ASK FOR VACCINATION AGAINST hepatitis B (there is not one for HIV or hepatitis C) you need at least 3 doses.
